The Kāpiti Chess Club is an associate member of the New Zealand Chess Federation, with an active calendar of rated and casual events, including the annual open events, the Kāpiti Rapid, and the Kāpiti Junior Chess Championship. The Club has both a Junior Club and a Senior Club, both meet on Tuesday nights.

The first two nights are free. Members who join the club during the year can pay pro-rata for the remainder of the year. Juniors playing both in Junior and Senior Club pay only one annual fee. All senior club members become registered with the New Zealand Chess Federation and have free entry to our annual Kāpiti Rapid.
